A restaurant group in Grand Rapids adds a second location in Ann Arbor. A home health agency in Lansing starts covering three more counties. Both types of employers show up in Envision Payroll’s own list of clients, and plenty of West Michigan owners are happy working with them. But once you start comparing Netchex vs. Envision Payroll, the differences underneath the two companies matter more than either one’s homepage.

Envision Payroll is a small, Michigan-based firm that resells and services isolved’s HCM software. Netchex builds and owns its own payroll, time, HR and benefits platform, and staffs the support line with its own people.

Last updated: September 2026. Envision Payroll information comes from the company’s own website, its BBB profile, and public business listings. Netchex figures come from G2 and Netchex’s own customer data.

The Short Version

Envision Payroll says it was founded in 2017, based in West Michigan and “serving clients nationwide,” according to its About page. Its site describes a full HCM suite powered by isolved, covering payroll, tax filing, HR, time and attendance, and pay-as-you-go workers’ comp. The company leans on a personal-service pitch, with the site promising “dedicated analysts, not ticket queues” instead of a call center. For a small business that wants a specialist who knows its account, that’s a genuinely appealing angle.

Netchex was founded in Louisiana more than 20 years ago for the businesses that keep America running: restaurants, hotels, dealerships, clinics. It’s one company from the code to the phone line. The US-based, FPC-certified support team answers 90% of calls in under a minute with first-call resolution, customers rate that service 4.8 out of 5, and Netchex holds an 8.9/10 Quality of Support score on G2.

Netchex vs. Envision Payroll on Payroll and Time

Envision’s site lists payroll, tax filing, an HR task manager, web-based time and attendance, and a 401(k) plan option, all delivered through isolved’s platform. It also offers pay-as-you-go workers’ comp, which ties premiums to actual payroll instead of an annual estimate. That’s a real, practical feature for a seasonal or hourly-heavy crew whose headcount swings during the year.

What Envision can’t change is the engine underneath. It configures and supports isolved, but isolved decides what the software does and when it changes.

Netchex writes its own payroll engine and its own time and attendance module, and Scheduler lives in the same system. So when a caregiver picks up an extra overnight shift, the hours and overtime flow straight into payroll instead of crossing from one vendor’s product into another. OneScreen Payroll pulls onboarding, overtime, benefits and taxes into one readiness view. Most teams wrap a run in under 15 minutes.

HR, Benefits and Compliance

Envision’s site lists HR task management alongside its payroll services, and it markets month-to-month contracts and per-employee pricing with no hidden fees. That’s a fair, transparent way to sell service. Because it’s an isolved reseller, though, the actual HR and benefits tools come from isolved’s suite, not from Envision itself.

Netchex keeps all of it on one employee record. With its in-house benefits solution, enrollment, ACA tracking, onboarding and hiring through Netchex Recruit share the same data, so a new hire’s details get entered once, not three times. ACA Central tracks hours and coverage offers across full-time, part-time and seasonal staff, which matters for an employer whose headcount shifts with the season. Netchex files Forms 1094-C and 1095-C, too. (The IRS reporting rules for applicable large employers spell out what’s required.)

Less re-keying. Fewer surprises at year end.

Service and Support

Service is a big part of Envision’s pitch. Its site promises “dedicated analysts, not ticket queues,” and one client’s testimonial backs that up: “Professional, fairly priced and service from sales team and office is the best i have had in my 30 years in business.” That’s a strong endorsement from someone who’d know.

Here’s the catch, though. We couldn’t find Envision listed on G2, Capterra, or Trustpilot, and its Better Business Bureau profile shows it isn’t BBB accredited and carries no rating, with zero customer reviews on file. That doesn’t mean the service is bad. It means there’s little independent, third-party evidence to check the claim against, which is worth knowing before you sign.

There’s also the structural question every isolved reseller faces. isolved’s own support FAQ says employers who license isolved through a Network Partner “receive support directly from that service provider”. Most days that means Envision’s own team. But when the trouble lives inside the software itself, it has to travel from Envision to isolved and back.

Netchex skips that relay entirely. The people who answer the phone work for the company that wrote the code. Ninety percent of calls are picked up in under a minute with first-call resolution, and every customer has a dedicated Account Manager.

Netchex has the best support of any service provider I’ve ever worked with. There aren’t any hoops to jump through with Netchex support.

Implementation and Switching

Switching payroll providers is nobody’s idea of a good week. What actually matters is how much of the work lands on your desk.

Netchex implementation is free and project-managed, usually wrapping up in about six weeks, with free data imports and a 96% implementation satisfaction score. One team owns it from the first data pull to the first live payroll.

Envision doesn’t publish an implementation timeline on its site. If you’re comparing the two, ask for one in writing, and ask which steps Envision handles directly versus which ones depend on isolved.

Who Each Is Built For

Envision Payroll may fit if: you’re a smaller Michigan employer, you value a dedicated analyst over a call center, and you’re comfortable running on isolved as the platform underneath.

Netchex may fit if: you run hourly or multi-location teams, you want one company accountable for both the platform and the support, and you’d rather have your own independently checkable track record on G2. For more on the isolved side, see our Netchex vs. isolved comparison.
