Netchex vs. CS Pro PEO: Which HR and Payroll Platform Is Right for Your Business in 2026?

A turnaround is starting at the plant next week, and you need twenty more people on payroll by Friday. Your office manager can’t add them herself. She calls the PEO, sends the paperwork, and waits. If your business runs anywhere between Lake Charles and Beaumont, that call is probably familiar, and it’s the real question behind Netchex vs. CS Pro PEO.

CS Pro is the PEO arm of CS Companies Gulf Coast, a locally owned staffing group with offices in Lake Charles, Louisiana and Nederland, Texas. Netchex is payroll and HR software built in Louisiana since 2003. Both know Gulf Coast employers. Only one of them becomes a co-employer of your crew.

Last updated: September 2026. Netchex data sourced from G2. CS Pro details come from the CS Companies website, the Texas PEO license registry, and the IRS CPEO public listings, checked September 2026.

The Short Version

CS Pro bundles payroll, workers’ comp, health and life insurance, unemployment claims, and HR compliance into one local PEO relationship, and its sister companies can staff your jobs too. The catch is the structure. Your people become its co-employees, CS Pro’s team runs the back office, and the fee is quoted privately and grows with your headcount.

Netchex covers payroll, time and attendance, benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, and performance without taking any of it off your hands. You stay the only employer. You keep your own benefits and your own broker. And a US-based, FPC-certified support team answers 90% of calls in under a minute.

Netchex vs. CS Pro PEO: Whose Crew Is It?

Signing with a PEO puts your workforce into co-employment. The PEO becomes an employer of record for payroll taxes and benefits, and wages are reported under its tax ID instead of yours. CS Pro’s own services page is candid about it: it describes providing health insurance plans tailored to “our employees and clients.” Your welders, operators, and office staff become, on paper, its employees too.

That shows up in places that matter to your people. Their W-2s come from the PEO. Their health coverage runs through plans CS Pro provides. Their workers’ comp sits under the PEO’s arrangement. And if you ever leave, every one of those pieces has to be rebuilt under your own name.

There’s also the question of certification. The IRS runs a Certified PEO program that gives clients of certified PEOs certain federal employment tax protections. CS Professional Employment, LLC isn’t on the IRS active CPEO list. It is licensed as a PEO in Texas and belongs to the national PEO trade association, which counts for something. It isn’t the same safeguard.

Netchex never becomes your co-employer. Payroll runs under your own EIN, your benefits are plans you picked with the broker you trust, and your employees work for exactly one company: yours.

Who Runs Payroll on Friday

A PEO doesn’t hand you a payroll tool. It hands you a service. At CS Pro, processing, tax filing, W-2 mailing, enrollment, eligibility checks, and workers’ comp claims are all things “our administrative team” takes care of, in the company’s own words. Your job becomes sending the information and checking the result.

For some owners, that’s the appeal. For the person actually responsible for getting a crew paid right, it’s a bottleneck. Need a new pay code for per diem? A different shift differential for the night crew? A report cut the way your superintendent reads it? You ask, and you wait for somebody else’s queue. CS Pro’s site doesn’t describe any self-service tools for clients, so plan on working through its staff.

Netchex flips that. Payroll, time and attendance, benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, and performance all live in one system your team configures. With OneScreen Payroll, most teams run payroll in about 15 minutes. Support is a phone call away, but support doesn’t stand between you and your own process.

I love the integrated platform. With our old payroll company you would have to make the same change in several different areas of the software. With Netchex, it only takes once. This system is so user-friendly, it makes training a breeze. And the customer service is second to none!

What It Costs When the Crew Grows

CS Pro doesn’t publish its fees. The only path on its site is “Request A Consultation.” Across the industry, PEO fees are usually set per employee or as a percentage of payroll, and either way the number moves with your headcount.

On the Gulf Coast, headcount doesn’t sit still. A turnaround, a new contract at the refinery, or a busy storm season can add dozens of workers in a month. Overtime lifts gross payroll. Every one of those changes can lift the PEO fee too, and that fee lands on top of what you’d pay anyway: wages, employer taxes, benefit premiums, and workers’ comp.

Buyers of bigger PEOs have been saying this for a while. A 2024 PEO broker review of ADP TotalSource cited “concerns about the high cost of the service, lack of transparency in quotes and fee structures,” and TriNet’s Capterra reviewers point to rising per-employee costs at scale. Ask any PEO for a quote at your peak headcount, not your slowest month.

With Netchex, you’re paying for software and service, not for a share of your employer relationship. There’s no co-employment fee stacked on top of your own benefits, because the benefits are already yours.

Service and Support

Credit where it’s due: CS Pro’s pitch is local people. Its account managers have been working Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas for years, and the company is locally owned. The sister staffing company holds an A+ BBB rating with no complaints closed in the last three years.

What’s missing is outside evidence for the PEO itself. We couldn’t locate a G2, Capterra, or Trustpilot rating for CS Pro, and the client testimonials page on its site is empty. The reviews it does show are for its staffing business.

Netchex’s service record is public. Every customer gets a dedicated Account Manager. The US-based, FPC-certified team answers 90% of calls in under a minute, with first-call resolution. Customers rate the service 4.8/5, and G2 reviewers give it 8.9/10 for Quality of Support.

Where CS Pro Genuinely Shines

CS Pro’s parent group knows industrial work. Its CS Industrial company staffs energy, petrochemical, and fabrication employers, and the group says it holds shares in Temporary Services Insurance Ltd., a workers’ comp arrangement it credits with keeping its rates in check through loss control. If you need both temporary labor and back-office help from one local office, that combination is real.

Just be clear about what you’re buying. The PEO is the group’s newest business, formed in 2020 next to a staffing operation that dates back to 2005. The company’s own blog puts it plainly: “You may think of CS Pro as just a staffing agency.”

Switching Considerations

Leaving a PEO is a project. Your workforce moves back under your own EIN, health and life coverage gets set up in your company’s name, you’ll need your own workers’ comp policy through your agent, and payroll history has to come along. For an industrial employer, get the workers’ comp piece moving early.

Netchex runs the software side as a managed project. Implementation is free, project-managed, includes your data import, and takes about six weeks. Customers rate it at 96% implementation satisfaction. Netchex works directly with your benefits broker and CPA, so the handoff doesn’t land on one person’s desk.

Who Each One Is Actually Built For

Choose CS Pro if: you’re a small Southwest Louisiana or Southeast Texas employer that wants a local firm to take over payroll, benefits, and workers’ comp, you also need temporary or industrial staffing, and you’re comfortable sharing employer status with a PEO that isn’t IRS-certified.

Choose Netchex if: you want your own team running payroll and HR, you want your crew to stay your employees, and you don’t want a fee that climbs every time you staff up. It’s built for hourly, multi-location businesses with lean HR teams, and it’s been built in Louisiana since 2003.
