International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, which also advocates for accelerating gender parity. To recognize this important day, we’ll be celebrating some of our own inspiring female leaders and their careers in the tech industry and at Netchex.
Summer Fiedler | Director of Product Development
Since her start as a UIUX Designer, Summer has made an impact on the overall design and functionality of the Netchex platform, as well as on her co-workers and teammates. Rebecca Milazzo, one of our UIUX Designers under Summer, states, “Summer is always so willing to share her wisdom, but also eager to let me find confidence in my own decisions. Because of her, every day I am inspired and pushed to put out my best work for our team and for Netchex.”
Tell us a little bit about your Netchex journey!
When I came to Netchex 4 years ago, I was the first UIUX designer. As a result of our VC partnership with Primus, the company has grown rapidly. I was able to establish and lead a team of UIUX designers. As the UIUX manager, I focused on human centered design and UX strategy. As the Director of Product Development, my focus has shifted to larger strategic initiatives and product vision.
What is your favorite part about working in the Tech/Software industry?
As a small local company that has experienced rapid growth, I’ve learned so much in a short amount of time. Whether it’s how to improve our process or new business problems from our clients, I’m learning new things everyday. The variety of information adds to the challenge I love and offers a variety of work. It’s fulfilling and exciting.
Above all, I love using technology to solve problems for our customers that have a real world impact. Problem solving is hardly easy. Seeing the results of your hard work and the impact you’ve had makes it all the more rewarding.
Do you have any advice for other women entering the tech industry?
My advice for women entering the tech industry is to have an opinion and don’t be afraid to share it. Remember that you were hired for a reason and your opinion is important. You won’t only bring your expertise – you will also bring a new perspective to the team.
What are your hopes for Netchex as a tech company moving forward?
I see Netchex continuing to be a leader in technology and in the HCM space. One of our development managers coined the phrase “We’re farthest than we’ve ever been.” Everyday is an opportunity for us to get better and to set the bar even higher.
