Women Leaders: Kellen Waldrep, Sales | Netchex HCM Software

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, which also advocates for accelerating gender parity. To recognize this important day, we’ll be celebrating some of our own inspiring female leaders and their careers in the tech industry and at Netchex.

Kellen Waldrep | Sales

Year after year, Kellen Waldrep has been the top earner on the Netchex Sales team, thoroughly demolishing her quotas. We asked Kellen a few questions about her Netchex journey, and how much working in the tech industry and for Netchex means to her.

Tell us a little bit about your Netchex journey!
I started with Netchex over six years ago with zero sales experience. Once I got started, I couldn’t stop. I truly fell in love with the chase of a sale – the chase of going after a prospect and winning them over with our technology. The best part is seeing their faces light up when I started explaining the product. Their excitement and happiness about something that could help their daily job is special.

What is your favorite part about working in the Tech/Software industry?
When it comes to Netchex especially, my favorite part of my job is absolutely the flexibility. Getting to control my schedule is a game-changer when it comes to getting everything done that I need to get done. And thankfully, Netchex allows me and other reps the opportunity to do so. When it comes to selling in the technology space, what makes it so exciting and rigorous is the fact that there’s no boundaries. I’m not walking out there with a product that’s completely finished with set parameters. I can sell clients software that evolves and changes constantly to best fit our client’s needs, and that makes selling it that much more exciting.

As a mother in the demanding field of tech sales, how do you manage balancing your home and work life?
Let’s be honest – balance is hard. No matter what you do. And I’m still working on it myself. Again, the flexibility Netchex allows is such an advantage. And that allows me to make it a priority to make sure my kids get off the bus, rather than scheduling a call or a meeting at that time. I find balance in really tailoring my schedule to my priorities, in both life and work. I have the freedom to schedule my conference calls based on my needs, even if that means sometimes working after their bedtime. Tough, but worth it to be there when they need me!

What are your hopes for Netchex as a tech company moving forward?
My hope is that we always stay the same company I fell in love with six years ago. The values, the people, the product. There is something to be said about a company who truly values your input, and the input of everyone in the company. I love how I work for a CEO who will answer our call to help when we need it in the field. Also, having a boss who doesn’t micro-manage us really allows for us to succeed and crush our goals, and on our own time.

As a top-selling sales rep at Netchex, Kellen’s hard work earns her spot at the Netchex Sales Club trips year after year. She’s spent weeks in Napa and the Virgin Islands, and will soon fly out to Costa Rica thanks to her quota-smashing 2018.

We’re always looking for rockstar sales reps like Kellen to join our team and have some fun along the way! If you’re looking to start or level up your sales career, click below to see our openings.
